{C+S} | Wedding Photography

For the past two weeks, I have been on vacation with my family. It is a time when I force myself to shut down my computer and focus on my son and husband. I had a wonderful time, and when I touched down in Texas once more, I was recharged, refreshed, and ready to tackle the digital negatives from my October 8th wedding.

This was an event near and dear to my heart. For one thing, it was a wedding for a friend, which is always a wonderful occasion. For another, it is the third and most important in a series of sessions that I have shot for the bride and groom (I have also taken bridal and engagement photos for the lovely couple). I was thrilled to be asked to photograph their special day. It was a lot of work, but it really reinforced my desire to make wedding photography one of my specializations. The carefully crafted details, solemnity of the ceremony contrasted by the energy of the reception, and the love and good feeling omnipresent throughout the day made it an unforgettable experience.

An Evening In Salado| Anniversary Portrait

There is nothing better than having clients who are willing to go all out for a shoot. Trekking through dust and water, sitting on the ground and rocks, balancing precariously on a bridge railing all out. This couple gave their all for this rockin' session, and it really shows in the end result! Of course, it probably helps that they are clearly completely, head over heels in love with each other. :)

{C+S} | Engagement Portrait

I'm not going to lie: Sometimes, immediately after a session, I worry about if I have captured what I intended to capture. I wonder if the smiles will be genuine, or the poses natural. But, with clients like these, I find those worries to be frivolous. As much as I would love to take full credit for the end result, I am only a small piece of what makes these photos some of my favorites so far. There is an abundance of love and good humor that defines them as a couple, and to have it in every frame really speaks to the strength of their relationship. I can only photograph what I see, after all. From my viewfinder, their future looks quite rosy.

Birthdays Are The Best! | Toddler Portrait

Okay, birthday-themed photo shoot would probably be more accurate, but this sweet little guy's day is so close I think it counts! And cake, pudding paint and presents certainly make for a convincing display. It was such a joy to bring a smile to his face with all the colors and new activities (Pudding? On paper? Madness!). It was messy, but aren't the activities where we get our hands dirty the ones that are the most fun? :)

Waiting On Baby

There is nothing more beautiful than an expectant mother, and nothing more thrilling for me than to be able to immortalize that beauty for a friend. Like any mother, she probably has the occasional worry. But, for our session, she was cool and collected, securely in the calm before the storm of doctors, diapers and Desitin. She is ready (as are we all!) to meet her sweet baby. It won't be too much longer now. Congratulations, my friend!

Sweet Baby "J" | Newborn Portrait

I did not come into the photography business with my mind set on specializing in newborns. My supply of blankets is abundant, but other props (hats, bows, backdrops, etc.) are woefully lacking. Fortunately, when it comes to newborns, none of that "stuff" really matters. The beauty of a newborn isn't in how immaculately dressed, perfectly posed or accessorized he or she is (although I do melt when I see those bright, beautifully executed newborn portraits!); it is in the wrinkles of feet that fit in the hollow of your hand, the grip of their dainty fingers, and, in the case of a particularly wakeful little one, the way they look around the world with a sense of wonder. This was my first, and hopefully not my last, newborn session. Life is beautiful.
